We are currently looking for volunteers ages 16-18 to fill two roles:

1)  Student artists and creators who would like to share their talents by teaching 2-hour classes in:

-Arts & crafts
-Painting
-Drawing
-Creative projects
-Any artistic skill or creative activity

2) Student volunteers who would like to support camp leaders and help create a fun, welcoming, and positive environment for kids throughout the summer camps.

Each year, we host a Course Clearing Day to get the trail ready for runners. We focus on a section of the course that goes mostly unused throughout the year, and we need your help!

Join us on May 23rd at 11 AM to help rake and clear a portion of the course. There is a thick buildup of pine needles, leaves, and sticks, and many hands make light work.

This position answers the hotline at the CSC Mon-Fri 9am-5pm and/or remotely via Nextiva (phone app) during evenings and on weekends.

The volunteer accompanies clients to the hospital for a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) exam and/or a Forensic Nurse Examiner (FNE) exam. Duties include:

Volunteer must complete the 40- hour Volunteer Training, background checks, and confidentiality form. In addition, the volunteer must complete the specific SANE/FNE training outside of the original 40 hours. A volunteer must shadow at a minimum 2 times before being on-call alone.

Acts of Kindness, also known as Random Acts of Kindness or R.A.K. is our way of uplifting the community and spreading the word about local small businesses in our community.

Here is how it works:
* Love, KK raises funds.
* Someone nominates community members who need extra love in their life.
* Love, KK purchases goods or services from local small businesses and assembles a unique gift for the nominated community member.

The gift is hand-delivered! This is where you come in! We need people to deliver the gifts around the area. Drivers must be at least 18 years old. 

This summer, there are nine weeks of camp in Sterling and Leesburg that will serve about 50 kids each week. Many of the mentors are former participants who are now giving back to their community. If interested, please email Andres Uribe at andres@aplacetobeva.org

This spring, PEC’s Plantings for the Piedmont will once again be holding two native tree giveaways in Loudoun County. Through offering free native trees and growing advice, we hope to enable urban, suburban and rural landowners alike to join in the collective stewardship of our regional tree canopy, native habitat and watershed. We could use some community help to make this happen. Just a few extra pairs of hands at each event are needed to help unload trees and assist recipients. We also welcome all of you to come get trees of your own and help spread the word. Details for volunteering are below.

From doctors, nurses, and pharmacists to interpreters, administrative professionals, and IT experts, their volunteers are united in the mission to care for Loudoun’s underserved. 

You can volunteer as a healthcare provider, or to provide clinical, administrative, or interpreter support.  To take the next step, fill out their volunteer application. 

Join us in getting your hands dirty for a good cause! The Piedmont Environmental Council’s Community Farm at Roundabout Meadows needs volunteers to help grow and harvest fresh produce for Clarke and Loudoun food pantries in our 2026 season. While you help your community you’ll learn more about the local food system and maybe even pick up a few tips on growing your own fruits and veggies.

Volunteer opportunities for 2026 will begin in late March/early April and continue throughout the growing season. We have multiple opportunities per week during the peak season (June-September) and offer one - two Saturdays per month. Due to the food pantry’s availability to pick up produce, the majority of time slots are during the week. Volunteer opportunities are announced via email to all volunteers who have signed up.

Volunteering is great for team-building! We are happy to coordinate School Field Trips, Corporate, and Group (e.g. scouts, clubs, faith-based organizations) volunteer days for groups of fifteen or more.

All ages are welcome to volunteer, minors under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Ongoing Tasks (March-October):

Seed starting, planting, harvesting, and other fun farm tasks!

On-site training will be provided. Previous experience is welcome, but not required! Be prepared to work outside in variable weather conditions. Bring gardening gloves, snacks, water, sun protection, bug spray, and weather appropriate clothing. Long pants and closed-toe shoes are encouraged. Volunteer waiver required, a link to the digital waiver will be shared in the volunteer welcome letter you will receive upon registration.

We would love to have you join our team volunteering at Special Olympics Loudoun!    We currently need assistance in golf, cycling, pickleball, bocce, swimming and softball.  We have started our spring season and our coaches need assistance teaching skills and having fun with our athletes.  Our athletes are awesome and would love to meet new people who want to get involved!

Thank you for your interest in the Ashburn Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department! Volunteers are the heart of our organization, and there are many ways to serve. From firefighting and EMS to administrative support.

You must be at least 16 years old to be a volunteer with AVFRD.

If you are 16 or 17 years old, we only accept applications from individuals who reside in Loudoun County and are currently enrolled in the EMT program at the Academies of Loudoun. AVFRD will be launching a new Junior Member program in late 2026 or early 2027.

Our CARE-A-VAN wheelchair assisted program operates five days a week.

Buddies are individuals who assist Challenger players in the areas of batting, base running and defense, but only as needed. Often buddies are peer athletes who are participating in the Dulles & surrounding Little League areas, softball leagues, high schools, and individuals from the community. When we don't have volunteers to help us, the parents or siblings have to. Any Buddy over the age of 18 goes through our background check. This partnership also provides our parents the opportunity to watch from the stands like any other organized team sport allows.

Our league does not have practices and games are played on Saturday afternoons at 3:00pm & 4:15pm. Games are played at Greg Crittenden Memorial Park which is located in the Ashburn Farms area off of Windmill Drive. Players are placed on age-appropriate teams. We don't keep score or the number of outs. We play two innings in which everyone plays in the field and everyone has a turn at bat. The last batter gets to hit a home run. Then the next inning, we reverse the batting order so the person who batted first in the previous inning gets to hit the home run. If time and weather permit, additional innings can be played based on the coach's discretion.

The Dulles South Food Pantry relies on volunteers to operate. To volunteer, you must first attend a 45-minute orientation where you will learn about the Pantry and our operations.

Orientation and training will be held at the Pantry (first building on the right as you enter the Arcola Church property) 24757 Arcola Mills Dr, Dulles, VA. Please park in the paved lot on your left.

Volunteers at the Pantry must be age 10 or older.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and out of High School to sign up for a Distribution Shift.
Children and youth aged 10 to 13 must be accompanied by a parent or other responsible adult while at training and while volunteering at the Pantry.
We welcome children age 9 or younger to support the Pantry by collecting food or organizing a food drive.
Most volunteer shifts at the Pantry itself take place on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Saturday.

We are in particular need of Spanish-speaking volunteers at our Sterling location to help with phone coverage, greeting guests, and assisting in the market. This is very important because we have a new population of neighbors who are learning how to navigate the market. The Sterling location is only open Mondays, 12:50pm - 3:00pm.

A Bright Spot sends greeting cards to children in foster care, hospitals, to seniors in hospitals and assisted living facilities, to deployed military members and their spouses, to caregivers and to many others who need a bright spot in their day through uplifting cards and notes.

On the 1st and 2nd Wednesdays of each month, Crossroads volunteers will be providing hot meals at the Loudoun County Homeless Shelter. You can help prepare a meal for 10 or serve at the shelter, or both! This is a hands-on mission that will make an impact on all who serve. Families, small groups and individuals are invited to volunteer.

The Red Bag Program is the heart of what we do at Food For Neighbors. Five times a year, you can fill a Red Bag (that we supply) with food from our grocery list. Drivers pick up the filled bag right from your front door and volunteers sort the food to distribute to local schools the same day. Worship is a collaborative effort involving many instruments, voices, and diverse levels of experience. Audio Visual Team

Worship is a creative collaboration — where scripture, serving, music, and imagery all come together to help people encounter God. Our AV Team partners with the Leadership, Music, and First Impression Teams to bring worship to life through sound, lighting, camera operation, media presentation, and more. Every role on the team plays a vital part in supporting meaningful and authentic worship.

The NVM Solidarity Committee connects Virginia residents with citizenship or documentation privileges who want to support immigrant communities with meaningful action opportunities. Through ICE Watch trainings, political education, mutual aid, and other action opportunities, Solidarity Committee volunteers build skills to effectively stand with immigrant neighbors. While volunteering at Legacy Farms, you may be planting flower starts, pulling weeds, laying out weedblock, pinning down garden staples, mulching rows, etc. Members from Legacy Farms will be on-site to welcome/check-in, provide an introduction of our program, instruction and oversight of the activities. In case of rain or other advisories, please check your email before you leave in case Mother Nature gives us the day off!

Dress with gardening in mind, including applying sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, gardening gloves, and pack lots of water! Please print and sign the attached Waiver and bring it when you come to volunteer. Restrooms are available.

ECHO Helping Hands (EHH) is inviting enthusiastic adults to join our Day Support team in creating meaningful and fun experiences for our participants. From arts and crafts to music, games, and community outings—there are endless ways to brighten someone’s day!

Loudoun Literacy Council is offering a free workshop on teaching English to adults to empower them to become self-sufficient and confident in their ability to achieve their personal and professional goals. Topics include teaching techniques and resources, fun and interactive activities that promote learning, and tips on understanding, managing, and celebrating cultural differences.

Shelter House is a community-based, non-profit organization that provides crisis intervention, safe housing, and supportive services necessary to families experiencing homelessness and victims of domestic violence. Inova Loudoun hospital volunteers are adults and teenagers from the Northern Virginia and Loudoun County area. Each year our volunteers give thousands of hours of their time to our hospital, team members, patients and visitors. Volunteer Opportunities are available for those 16 years of age and older. Our volunteers support departments at our Lansdowne, Ashburn and Leesburg campuses. Volunteers assist team members, patients, visitors and families. Adult volunteers commit to one consistent volunteer shift per week for a minimum period of six months.  Learn more and apply here.

Creative Writing: Attention teens! Want to tell your story? Share your thoughts and experiences on feeling different or not accepted and what helped you. Essays, short stories, poetry – however you’d like to express yourself is a welcome addition to our blog!

Teen Reviewers: Middle and high school writers are needed to provide program reviews. Attend one of our programs (The FORT or FORTitude Mental Wellness Series for Teens) and provide a written review.

We rely on volunteers who are well-versed in mental wellness such as current mental health practitioners and students in the field of mental health to help at our weekly teen workshops and monthly FORT program.

Adult volunteers, ages 21+, with an expertise in mental health are needed to support workshop leaders during our FORTitude for Teens workshops and at the monthly FORT. Psychology, social work, human services undergrad and grad students preferred.

Workshop and FORT Assistants will work with the facilitators to deliver workshops and messaging; interact with teen participants; assist with set-up, check in and out, and attendance reporting.

Time Commitment for Teen Workshops: One evening per week for four (usually) consecutive weeks for two hours at one location within Loudoun County. Time Commitment for the FORT: One Sunday each month for four to five hours at one location within Loudoun County.

Mobile Hope has volunteer opportunities for individuals, families, groups and corporations. Whether you want to serve on our bus outreach, pack food bags in our warehouse, sort and fold clothing, process donations, or devise your own creative way to give back, we are thrilled you chose Mobile Hope. Volunteers are essential to our ability to achieve our mission of providing immigration legal services to the low-income community, while also forging new bonds between immigrants and the larger northern Virginia community in which they live. Just Neighbors entrusts volunteers with vital duties that include communicating with clients and potential clients, translation services and document preparation for clients, community outreach, and much more.

Join us in serving the residents at the Loudoun Homeless Shelter by making a dinner at home and dropping it off at the Arcola Church Parking Lot at 5pm. You can also sign up to help come and serve the dinner!

Occasionally we need volunteers to help pack weekend food, distribute food to students or help in our school pantries. You will receive a Sign Up Genius email when those opportunities arise. Once you submit your volunteer form, we will add you to the Volunteer Database and contact you when we need help.

Sorting volunteers help unload, unpack and sort food collected on Red Bag days. You will receive a Sign Up Genius email approximately two weeks before each event so you can sign up if you're available. Once you submit your volunteer form, we will add you to the Volunteer Database and contact you before each event to see if you can help.

Driver volunteers ensure each bag is picked up, and dropped off at the sorting site. Drivers work in teams of two so it's a great opportunity to volunteer with a family member or friend. When you submit your volunteer form to be a driver, you will receive a text survey about three weeks before each event to find out if you are available.

Each month, we post a volunteer schedule to help our nation’s Warriors by maintaining our Virginia facility. Our greatest volunteer need is the day-to-day support necessary for maintaining a 5-star experience and facility for our deserving military and veteran families. Our fosters help us save lives every day! Foster orientations are held throughout the year. Foster orientations are open to anyone interested in fostering animals however our highest needs are fosters for adult dogs (40lbs+), kittens with and without moms, fearful adult cats, pregnant small animals and pregnant cats.

Our volunteer program opens monthly for new volunteers to sign up. The sign-up link opens on the 1st of the month and stays open for 48 hours or until all spots have been taken for the month.  We ask that our volunteers are ready to commit to a minimum of 8 hours a month for at least 6 months, before starting in the volunteer program. Fill out an interest form. (The sign up form opens on the first of the month.)

Volunteer Requirements:

The animals at the shelter greatly enjoy having quiet company, not only does it help them feel better and more comfortable in the shelter environment, it also can help them get adopted faster. Bring your own book/e-reader/phone and spend some quality time providing quiet company to an adoptable animal!

Share your skills as an educator to inspire awe and wonder for Bald Eagles and other wildlife by presenting classroom chat sessions to students.  These sessions take place online weekday mornings and early afternoons.  Complete an Eagle Cam Volunteer Application and include your experience as an educator to be considered.  We provide the eagle knowledge while you provide the skills to engage students.  Read more about classroom chats here.
