Needs From: Volunteer Loudoun

Volunteers are essential to our ability to achieve our mission of providing immigration legal services to the low-income community, while also forging new bonds between immigrants and the larger northern Virginia community in which they live. Just Neighbors entrusts volunteers with vital duties that include communicating with clients and potential clients, translation services and document preparation for clients, community outreach, and much more.

Depending on skills, experience, and availability, volunteers can help out in many different roles. Click here to learn about our various volunteer roles and opportunities.

Join us in serving the residents at the Loudoun Homeless Shelter by making a dinner at home and dropping it off at the Arcola Church Parking Lot at 5pm. You can also sign up to help come and serve the dinner!

We will be rotating through different dinners each month. Please see the instructions for the dinner specific to the date you sign up for. Sign up here.

Occasionally we need volunteers to help pack weekend food, distribute food to students or help in our school pantries. You will receive a Sign Up Genius email when those opportunities arise. Once you submit your volunteer form, we will add you to the Volunteer Database and contact you when we need help.

Sorting volunteers help unload, unpack and sort food collected on Red Bag days. You will receive a Sign Up Genius email approximately two weeks before each event so you can sign up if you're available. Once you submit your volunteer form, we will add you to the Volunteer Database and contact you before each event to see if you can help.

Driver volunteers ensure each bag is picked up, and dropped off at the sorting site. Drivers work in teams of two so it's a great opportunity to volunteer with a family member or friend. When you submit your volunteer form to be a driver, you will receive a text survey about three weeks before each event to find out if you are available.

Opportunities are available for a wide range of interests and time commitments. Most of our volunteer opportunities are for adults, but projects for children and students can be arranged with advance notice.

Each month, we post a volunteer schedule to help our nation’s Warriors by maintaining our Virginia facility. Our greatest volunteer need is the day-to-day support necessary for maintaining a 5-star experience and facility for our deserving military and veteran families. These tasks might include clearing trails, cleaning up our EcoEternity Forest, splitting wood, mowing - tools will be provided, please dress accordingly. If interested, please complete this form.

Small maintenance needs like fixing fences, checking water lines, replacing batteries, cleaning, and other typical household maintenance requirements. Also included tasks such as facility refresh tasks such as painting and light construction. If interested, please complete this form.

Our fosters help us save lives every day! Foster orientations are held throughout the year. Foster orientations are open to anyone interested in fostering animals however our highest needs are fosters for adult dogs (40lbs+), kittens with and without moms, fearful adult cats, pregnant small animals and pregnant cats.

Our volunteer program opens monthly for new volunteers to sign up. The sign-up link opens on the 1st of the month and stays open for 48 hours or until all spots have been taken for the month.  We ask that our volunteers are ready to commit to a minimum of 8 hours a month for at least 6 months, before starting in the volunteer program. Fill out an interest form. (The sign up form opens on the first of the month.)

Volunteer Requirements:

The animals at the shelter greatly enjoy having quiet company, not only does it help them feel better and more comfortable in the shelter environment, it also can help them get adopted faster. Bring your own book/e-reader/phone and spend some quality time providing quiet company to an adoptable animal!

Share your skills as an educator to inspire awe and wonder for Bald Eagles and other wildlife by presenting classroom chat sessions to students.  These sessions take place online weekday mornings and early afternoons.  Complete an Eagle Cam Volunteer Application and include your experience as an educator to be considered.  We provide the eagle knowledge while you provide the skills to engage students.  Read more about classroom chats here.

Conduct workshop with applicants who have received Orientation Workbook and have completed A/I (Application & Interview) with a job counselor. Outline is provided. Bilingual is a plus!

Assisting applicants with resume & cover letter preparation and/or editing. Templates provided. Computers and
