Needs From: Volunteer Loudoun

The Red Bag Program is the heart of what we do at Food For Neighbors. Five times a year, you can fill a Red Bag (that we supply) with food from our grocery list. Drivers pick up the filled bag right from your front door and volunteers sort the food to distribute to local schools the same day. Students in your local community will immediately benefit from your generosity!  Request a Red Bag here.

Occasionally we need volunteers to help pack weekend food, distribute food to students or help in our school pantries. You will receive a Sign Up Genius email when those opportunities arise. Once you submit your volunteer form, we will add you to the Volunteer Database and contact you when we need help.

Sorting volunteers help unload, unpack and sort food collected on Red Bag days. You will receive a Sign Up Genius email approximately two weeks before each event so you can sign up if you're available. Once you submit your volunteer form, we will add you to the Volunteer Database and contact you before each event to see if you can help.

Driver volunteers ensure each bag is picked up, and dropped off at the sorting site. Drivers work in teams of two so it's a great opportunity to volunteer with a family member or friend. When you submit your volunteer form to be a driver, you will receive a text survey about three weeks before each event to find out if you are available.
