Volunteer: Be a Farm Hand for an Incredible Cause

Welcome to Volunteering at A Farm Less Ordinary!

Join our inclusive farming community at A Farm Less Ordinary to help us cultivate a high-quality crop while providing meaningful employment for people with IDCD. Volunteers will assist with essential tasks like weeding, planting, mulching and organic field maintenance to ensure our produce thrives. It’s a rewarding, hands-on way to support local agriculture and foster an empowered, integrated workforce in Loudoun County.

Requirements: All volunteers must be age 13 or older, and able to walk unassisted on uneven farmland in various weather conditions.

Schedule: Volunteers are needed March through early November, Monday to Friday, for 3-hour shifts between 8 AM and 2 PM and sometimes for special projects on weekends.

Volunteer Tasks: You'll help our employees with planting, weeding, watering, field prep/maintenance, and harvesting. Occasionally you might help on special projects taking place on the farm.

Registration Process:
-Fill out our New Volunteer Form (available March 1 - September 1)
-Check your email for next steps (within 3 business days)
-Complete any required background checks (you will receive info about this in a follow-up email, once registered)
-Attend a 45-minute orientation (date & location to be posted soon)

Age Requirements:
Ages 13-14: Must register with a parent/guardian who will pass a background check and accompany you while volunteering. Both must attend orientation.

Ages 15-17: No background check needed, but must register and attend orientation with a parent/guardian who will sign required paperwork.

Ages 18 and older: Must pass a background check and attend orientation.

Join Us for a Group Volunteer Experience! Looking for a meaningful team activity? Your group can help make a difference at our farm! We love hosting groups who want to contribute to our mission.

The Perfect Group Size: To ensure everyone has a great experience, we work best with groups of 16 or fewer volunteers (ages 13 and up). This size allows us to provide a meaningful experience for everyone, while effectively managing our farm activities.

Ready to Plan Your Visit? Let's talk about how your group can help! Email us at volunteer@afarmlessordinary.org to discuss available dates and opportunities that match your group's interests.
