Join The Piedmont Environmental Council and Friends of the Rappahannock for a volunteer tree planting on Tuesday, October 28th, at The Ecovillage of Loudoun County in Lovettsville, VA.  Volunteers are needed for two shifts, morning and afternoon.  Together, we will plant approximately 220 native trees and shrubs to enhance the "common land" stewarded by this rural community just a few miles from the Potomac River. 

Volunteer activities include tree planting, which involves scalping (removing grass with a hoe), digging holes, planting, and pounding wooden stakes. If you sign up for an afternoon shift, an additional activity might include quality control checks of the planted areas, watering newly planted trees, or similar tasks.   We also need 1 photographer for each shift to document our success.

Join The Piedmont Environmental Council for a Plantings for the Piedmont volunteer tree planting on Saturday, October 25th, at the Courts of St. Francis neighborhood in Purcellville, VA.  Volunteers are needed for one morning shift.  Together, we will plant approximately 75 native trees and shrubs in support of this residential community's commitment to protect the Purcellville waterways that flow into the Potomac Watershed and ultimately to the Chesapeake Bay.

Volunteer activities include tree planting, which involves scalping (removing grass with a hoe), digging holes, planting, and pounding wooden stakes.  We also need 1 photographer to document our success.

Join us in getting your hands dirty for a good cause! The Piedmont Environmental Council’s Community Farm at Roundabout Meadows needs volunteers to help grow and harvest fresh produce for Clarke and Loudoun food pantries in our 2025 season. While you help your community you’ll learn more about the local food system and maybe even pick up a few tips on growing your own fruits and veggies.

Volunteer opportunities for 2025 will begin in late March/early April and continue throughout the growing season. We have multiple opportunities per week during the peak season (June-September) and offer one Saturday per month. Due to the food pantry’s availability to pick up produce, the majority of time slots are during the week. Volunteer opportunities are announced via email to all volunteers who have signed up.

Volunteering is great for team-building! We are happy to coordinate School Field Trips, Corporate, and Group (e.g. scouts,clubs,faith-based organizations) volunteer days for groups of fifteen or more.

All ages are welcome to volunteer, minors under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Ongoing Tasks (April-October):

Seed starting, planting, harvesting, and other fun farm tasks!

On-site training will be provided. Previous experience is welcome, but not required! Be prepared to work outside in variable weather conditions. Bring gardening gloves, snacks, water, sun protection, bug spray, and weather appropriate clothing. Long pants and closed-toe shoes are encouraged. Volunteer waiver required, a link to the digital waiver will be shared in the volunteer welcome letter you will receive upon registration.

Help create a warm and welcoming experience for those joining our Sunday morning worship service online! As an Online Host, you’ll connect with our digital community by posting four brief comments throughout the service. These messages will include a friendly welcome, an invitation to fill out an online connection card, a note on how to give, and a heartfelt thank-you for attending.

Add a Splash of Color – Face Painting at Trunk or Treat!

Get ready to bring smiles and creativity to life! We’re looking for volunteers to help with face painting at our Trunk or Treat event. Whether you're an artist or just love working with kids, this is a fun way to be part of the magic! Designs should be simple, festive, and family-friendly—think pumpkins, ghosts, bats, and friendly monsters. All face painting supplies will be provided, and we’ll make sure you have everything you need to create a fun and safe experience for each child.

Set-up time: Please arrive between 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM, with all stations ready by 1:30 PM.

Bring the Fun – Host a Game at Trunk or Treat!

Looking for a fun way to get involved? Help us make this year’s Trunk or Treat extra exciting by running a game booth! We’re looking for volunteers to set up and host simple, kid-friendly games.  We will provide everything that you will need.

Set-up time: Please plan to arrive between 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM, with all game stations ready to go by 1:30 PM.

Join the Fun at Our Trunk or Treat Event!

We invite you to decorate your trunk (family-friendly themes, please—nothing too spooky!) and help us create a fun and festive atmosphere by handing out candy to our trick-or-treaters.

Each participating trunk should plan to bring at least 200 pieces of candy to start. Don’t worry—our volunteers will be circulating throughout the event to help restock your supply as needed.

Set-up time: Please arrive and park between 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM. All trunks must be in place by 1:30 PM at the latest. Thank you for helping us make this a safe and memorable event for families in our community!

Dulles Closet is a 100% volunteer run organization. Volunteers are needed to help with our Free Clothing Events. Youth service hours are available.

The Dulles South Food Pantry relies on volunteers to operate. To volunteer, you must first attend a 45-minute orientation where you will learn about the Pantry and our operations.

Orientation and training will be held at the Pantry (first building on the right as you enter the Arcola Church property) 24757 Arcola Mills Dr, Dulles, VA. Please park in the paved lot on your left.

Volunteers at the Pantry must be age 10 or older.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and out of High School to sign up for a Distribution Shift.
Children and youth aged 10 to 13 must be accompanied by a parent or other responsible adult while at training and while volunteering at the Pantry.
We welcome children age 9 or younger to support the Pantry by collecting food or organizing a food drive.
Most volunteer shifts at the Pantry itself take place on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Saturday.

A Place To Be Program Engagement Partners ( Volunteers ) are a vital part of everything we do, working alongside our staff to create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive community. Most of our placements involve supporting social groups and summer camps by participating in activities with clients or helping participants fully engage. First Impressions is a welcoming team consisting of communion servers, greeters, hospitality, parking ushers and ushers. From directions in the parking lot through the end of the worship service and special events, the First Impressions team is there to serve and offer an unlimited welcome to all.

Parking ushers guide cars and people in the parking lot.

Greeters offer a warm welcome and a name tag at the church doors.

Hospitality volunteers brew coffee and set out doughnuts and bagels before the worship service.

Ushers guide people before and during the worship service.

Communion servers serve at communion stations during the worship service.

Our fall season of sports has started and we need some great volunteers!  Our greatest need is in soccer, volleyball, pickleball and cycling as well as softball, swimming, and bowling.  Most of our sports are at areas around Ashburn although we also have sports in South Riding and Purcellville.

Student Ministry at Crossroads serves middle school and high school students and their families. Programs and events are designed around deepening friendships, building community, setting aside time for play and rest, and growing in God’s love for each of us and every person we come in contact and connect with.

The Red Bag Program is the heart of what we do at Food For Neighbors. Five times a year, you can fill a Red Bag (that we supply) with food from our grocery list. Drivers pick up the filled bag right from your front door and volunteers sort the food to distribute to local schools the same day. Audio Visual Team

Worship is a creative collaboration — where scripture, serving, music, and imagery all come together to help people encounter God. Our AV Team partners with the Leadership, Music, and First Impression Teams to bring worship to life through sound, lighting, camera operation, media presentation, and more. Every role on the team plays a vital part in supporting meaningful and authentic worship.

The NVM Solidarity Committee connects Virginia residents with citizenship or documentation privileges who want to support immigrant communities with meaningful action opportunities. Through ICE Watch trainings, political education, mutual aid, and other action opportunities, Solidarity Committee volunteers build skills to effectively stand with immigrant neighbors. As a working nonprofit flower farm, we train our volunteers to work in our gardens and are asking volunteers to commit to one time slot a week regularly, either on a Monday or Friday morning. While volunteering at Legacy Farms, you may be planting flower starts, pulling weeds, laying out weedblock, pinning down garden staples, mulching rows, etc. Members from Legacy Farms will be on-site to welcome/check-in, provide an introduction of our program, instruction and oversight of the activities. In case of rain or other advisories, please check your email before you leave in case Mother Nature gives us the day off!

Dress with gardening in mind, including applying sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, gardening gloves, and pack lots of water! Please print and sign the attached Waiver and bring it when you come to volunteer. Restrooms are available.

ECHO Helping Hands (EHH) is inviting enthusiastic adults to join our Day Support team in creating meaningful and fun experiences for our participants. From arts and crafts to music, games, and community outings—there are endless ways to brighten someone’s day!

Crossroads will be having a Fall Clean Up Day, Saturday, September 27th, from 9am-Noon. We will be working both inside and outside the church building. This is a great way to connect with others. Come and stay as long as you can. All ages are welcome. Come dressed appropriate for cleaning. Many hands make light work!

You can play a vital role in helping your neighbors learn English. Classes will be every Wednesday night starting 9/10/2025 through 11/12/2025 from 7pm-9pm. Registration is on 9/3/2025 from 7pm-9pm.

There are openings for teachers, substitute teachers, help with registration night, data entry, and tables and chairs set up and take down for the fall session.

Loudoun Literacy Council is offering a free workshop on teaching English to adults to empower them to become self-sufficient and confident in their ability to achieve their personal and professional goals. Topics include teaching techniques and resources, fun and interactive activities that promote learning, and tips on understanding, managing, and celebrating cultural differences.

Shelter House is a community-based, non-profit organization that provides crisis intervention, safe housing, and supportive services necessary to families experiencing homelessness and victims of domestic violence. Inova Loudoun hospital volunteers are adults and teenagers from the Northern Virginia and Loudoun County area. Each year our volunteers give thousands of hours of their time to our hospital, team members, patients and visitors. Volunteer Opportunities are available for those 16 years of age and older. Our volunteers support departments at our Lansdowne, Ashburn and Leesburg campuses. Volunteers assist team members, patients, visitors and families. Creative Writing: Attention teens! Want to tell your story? Share your thoughts and experiences on feeling different or not accepted and what helped you. Essays, short stories, poetry – however you’d like to express yourself is a welcome addition to our blog!

Teen Reviewers: Middle and high school writers are needed to provide program reviews. Attend one of our programs (The FORT or FORTitude Mental Wellness Series for Teens) and provide a written review.

We rely on volunteers who are well-versed in mental wellness such as current mental health practitioners and students in the field of mental health to help at our weekly teen workshops and monthly FORT program.

Adult volunteers, ages 21+, with an expertise in mental health are needed to support workshop leaders during our FORTitude for Teens workshops and at the monthly FORT. Psychology, social work, human services undergrad and grad students preferred.

Workshop and FORT Assistants will work with the facilitators to deliver workshops and messaging; interact with teen participants; assist with set-up, check in and out, and attendance reporting.

Time Commitment for Teen Workshops: One evening per week for four (usually) consecutive weeks for two hours at one location within Loudoun County. Time Commitment for the FORT: One Sunday each month for four to five hours at one location within Loudoun County.

Join us in serving the residents at the Loudoun Homeless Shelter by making a dinner at home and dropping it off at the Arcola Church Parking Lot at 5pm. You can also sign up to help come and serve the dinner!

Occasionally we need volunteers to help pack weekend food, distribute food to students or help in our school pantries. You will receive a Sign Up Genius email when those opportunities arise. Sorting volunteers help unload, unpack and sort food collected on Red Bag days. You will receive a Sign Up Genius email approximately two weeks before each event so you can sign up if you're available. Once you submit your volunteer form, we will add you to the Volunteer Database and contact you before each event to see if you can help.

Driver volunteers ensure each bag is picked up, and dropped off at the sorting site. Drivers work in teams of two so it's a great opportunity to volunteer with a family member or friend. When you submit your volunteer form to be a driver, you will receive a text survey about three weeks before each event to find out if you are available.

Our fosters help us save lives every day! Foster orientations are held throughout the year. Foster orientations are open to anyone interested in fostering animals however our highest needs are fosters for adult dogs (40lbs+), kittens with and without moms, fearful adult cats, pregnant small animals and pregnant cats.

Our volunteer program opens monthly for new volunteers to sign up. The sign-up link opens on the 1st of the month and stays open for 48 hours or until all spots have been taken for the month.  We ask that our volunteers are ready to commit to a minimum of 8 hours a month for at least 6 months, before starting in the volunteer program. Fill out an interest form. (The sign up form opens on the first of the month.)

Volunteer Requirements:

The animals at the shelter greatly enjoy having quiet company, not only does it help them feel better and more comfortable in the shelter environment, it also can help them get adopted faster. Bring your own book/e-reader/phone and spend some quality time providing quiet company to an adoptable animal!

Share your skills as an educator to inspire awe and wonder for Bald Eagles and other wildlife by presenting classroom chat sessions to students.  These sessions take place online weekday mornings and early afternoons.  Complete an Eagle Cam Volunteer Application and include your experience as an educator to be considered.  We provide the eagle knowledge while you provide the skills to engage students.  Read more about classroom chats here.

Conduct workshop with applicants who have received Orientation Workbook and have completed A/I (Application & Interview) with a job counselor. Outline is provided. Bilingual is a plus!
